I sometimes forget things, like where are my car keys? Ohh that's right they are in the ignition and I am driving down the road. Or I forgot to mail that package (yeah that one is on my desk right now.)

This is one of those times! Here are Ryan & Amanda. I met her at a wedding earlier in the year and she said when I get engaged I will be calling you. Sure enough a few months later I get a call and she is in the office with her mom. All that said Amanda didn't forget.

When we meet with clients, my goal is to relate to them on some level. I love finding that common denominator that helps us be more comfortable. Meet music. I went through a techno phase, still love it check out my buddy DJ Rawkwell, but this is something that Calvin, Tara and I had in common. We spent close to 30 minutes chatting about Daft Punk, The Crystal Method and Massive Attack. I was also excited to see that they were going to have tables and all sorts of awesome at their wedding. Today is my wife's birthday. The world couldn't ask for a more amazing person. I can still remember seeing her for the first time and thinking to myself "I am going to marry that girl." It was a scary and I didn't know what to do with the thought. However, thanks to friends and God we are here in such an amazing part of our life.

Happy Birthday Paige, thank you for being the best mother to Jada & baby 2 on the way. They both have no idea how lucky they are to have you as a mother.

Now, for my thanks :o) I could keep going on how amazing you are and repeat myself over and over again. I guess that is why I am a photographer and not a creative writer. Bruno Mars wrote a song recently and when I hear it I think, "If I was a songwriter or musician I would have written a song just like this. Here are the lyrics from the chorus.

Well blogging consistently is proving to be a much more difficult task than I had planned. I am going on 4 weeks of the New Year and have not been blogging on a regular basis. I was chatting with a former bride yesterday that has been anxiously awaiting her post, you know who you are :o). Continue to think of me as I try to tackle this resolution!

In the mean time why not blog about something, eh?? Here are Cody and Travis. I had such a great time with this couple. Important wedding tip: Have FUN! Granted the day is hectic and things can be going in a thousand different directions. However, just do your best and enjoy the moment. Cody and Travis took this advice and hit the ground running (see the last picture.) Have a great week!

Well it's a new year and I am already behind on blogging and updating my FACEBOOK page. I seem to update TWITTER easily so please feel free to follow me there too. Rob is the military and when they went to book the wedding Lauren brought two of her best friends. She just kept smiling everytime we would mention Rob.

One things that I love about weddings are the emotions that they bring. Which brings me to Hope and Paul Scott. The entire night I saw an ear to ear smile on these two. It's our alone time to drift off into a different world that an artist has written about a rouge doctor, or we laugh till we cry and some of great comedy sketches from SNL or Everybody Loves Raymond.

Meet Lindsay and Joe. A couple like so many of us that enjoys just sitting down and watching a little TV. They enjoy spending time together, watching Everybody Loves Raymond, and each other!

Three years ago, Jada was born. As I write this post she has been 3 for almost 12 hours. I think back at what has happened over the past three years in her life. She has made some 'best friends,' memorized words to songs and bible verses, seen the Red Sox win the World Series (sort of), and she can speak spanish fluently (ok I lied on that one.)

I love you Jada VERY MUCH!!! You are the best daughter I could have ever dreamed of having. I know that right now you will not be able to read it. However, if you do someday when you are older please remeber that: God loves you, Your mom and I love you, your family loves you, and The Red Sox are THE team. :o)

This is a post that brings me hope. It also makes me sit back and appreciate life.

This rings true in my life and so many of my clients and friends. I have the joy of taking the pictures of my closest friends and their families on occasion. The Snider's son Andrew was born about two months before Jada and loves tractors and OSU. We went around the lake and snapped pictures here and there and just had a great time, even if the wind gusts were in the 30 mph range. We just had to learn to be patient.

This post also comes at a difficult and joyful time for the Sniders. This week Nikki went to the doctor because something didn't seem quite right with her baby (due at the end November.) After a battery of tests Nikki had an emergency C-Section and Luke was born two months early. He weighed in at only 2 lbs 10 oz. But through God's grace he is progressing VERY well. I had the opportunity to see the two of them yesterday and baby Luke while he is in NICU. If you come across a moment in your day please lift up this family in a prayer.

If you know me I love quotes, both from movies and from events in life. So how fitting to have a quote from an actor and not in a movie...

Groucho Marx once said:

"Each morning when I open my eyes I say to myself: I, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today. I can choose which it shall be. Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn't arrived yet. I have just one day, today, and I'm going to be happy in it. "

Granted she probably couldn't say this but, Emma Williams lived this in my opinion. She was diagnosed with Leukemia at less than a year old. Her parents are also extremely courageous, I can't even imagine being in their shoes. This spring (yes I am behind) her parents and friends had a golf tournament in her honor to help raise money for her treatments.

This spring she also 'rang the bell,' which signifies she is cancer free! I was fortunate to cover the event and take photos of the 12+ teams involved in the tournament and grab some detail shots.

Jeremy Parker

Paige lost her father when she was just barely two months old. I lost my mother when I was 9 years old. When we first met, Paige and I would talk and talk about things we had gone through from losing a parent. She was one of the first people I was able to talk to comfortably about my Mom. I still, to this day, can't imagine what it would be like to lose a spouse and experience the pain our parents went through. The things my dad went through in my mom's final days, I just can't even fathom.

Megan & Jeremy were an amazing couple. They shared so many things in common that it was almost as if God said 'Here you go!' Less than a year after they were married Jeremy was diagnosed with leukemia, and their lives were forever changed. They even celebrated their first anniversary in the hospital. He had the tenacity of a bull dog when it came to fighting this disease. I was truly inspired by his strength and optimism.

Today however, is a difficult day for all those who know Jeremy and Megan. The imprint they, as a couple, have left is truly a blessing and awesome. Jeremy went to be with the Lord today a little after 2:30, and Megan is now in a similar situation that our parents went through. Please, if you have a moment take a minute to say a prayer for Megan and for Jeremy's family as they go through this difficult time.

Random Babbling

I feel like babbling is important. I think that sometimes it's important to go on & on.

First time to do this so hopefully it will get better as I progress...

My family is so important to me and with all that I do, I have grown to cherish family time. So this "3 Day Weekend" was just what I needed!! We are currently planning a birthday party for Jada, and I am amazed at how diffuclt this can be as she gets older.

I would ask her what she wants her party to be and it would change from Phineas & Ferb to Thomas the train, then to Yo Gabba Gabba, then to back to Phineas & Ferb; and thats all within 1-2 hours. So asking her is not an option.

Paige and I decided on Yo Gabba Gabba and plans are going 'well.' If you know where I can find a Muno costume to rent let me know :o)

This past week we have also had a lot of changes happening with the business. To start off I met with a consultant. Basically I asked him, "What I am doing wrong and what I am doing right?" I find that I have a lot to work on and A LOT to learn. I am excited for a lot of changes that will be coming to the business.

I have numerous times attempted to blog on a frequent basis. In some cases daily (yeah as if.) I was inspired yesterday by Chris Pollock's message to blog and even if it doesn't include a photo. It would still be benefical to express my thoughts.
I spent hours writing coding for this blog to make it pleasing to the eye and easy to read; yet I still manage to not blog very often. Ok so enough focusing on the faults. Here is a follow up to the 'resolutions' I had in December.

Goals for 'A long December'

Donate all clothes I don't wear or are too small (Sort of completed :o) the clothes are in a pile in the bedroom, and i must send them to the ROC)
Blog every day till 12-31-09 (as you can see didn't happen)
Go one week without drinking Soda (HOLY COW was that difficult, a Sonic Coke never tasted so good.)
Give away a free Family portrait session (I gave away two, at our Sunday School class Christmas Party)
Ride my bike around Lake Overholser Monday Wednesday & Friday (It was a bit to frigid)
Finish organizing my office (Not even Close)
Make treats for our neighbors for christmas (One out of our three neighbors were home and they got the cookies. We also learned that they have a daughter that is around two and has curly blonde hair and has a the name Jada.)
Finish two more courses for school (still not even close)
God Time (Still working on this)
Help Paige Set goals and keep them (She completed a list of items, and you should have seen her at the bridal show this year!! Outstanding Paige very well done! I couldn't be more proud of her.)
Eat something I've never tried. (Still waiting to go somewhere)
Take a photo a day and make a small book titled 'A long December' (The photos were taken mostly with the iphone. Now I have got to jump onto shutterfly and make the book)

A lot of people around this year seem to compile their New Year's resolutions. I stumbled across a blog that I was reading and they had compiled over 100 things!! I thought to myself, 'you know I never seem to follow through mine very well...'

So I am going to start making monthly goals that can carry over from month to month and I can 'redo' if I want. I have come up with 12 for the rest of the month. What can I say about Chris & Janelle other than. WOW! These two are a blast. Chris and I used to work at a Honda dealership back in the day and Janelle shaped my wife's work ethic for what it is today, when the two of them worked at Under the Sun. Janelle works at Starbucks now and is working to be a airplane mechanic. My favorite memory from there day was when Janelle is walking down the aisle, and says "WOW everyone is looking at me!!" I may have ad-libed some of that but you get the idea. Enough talking here they are!

One of my best friends growing up, Justin, and myself would frequently shoot together for photo assignments for school or more commonly for fun. I loved shooting at night. The other night after Jada was in bed I told Paige, I am going out for a shoot. It was nice to go out and shoot for myself.

Wow what a week! Wedding Friday, Spring Shoot Saturday, and everything in between. This week has been crazy.

On Saturday Jonny and Jessica brought Emma to the Spring Shoot and I was able to grab some great shots. And while emotions were so high with excitment of Easter, all that changed Sunday morning. I can't write very well so here are some exerpts from some emails

Jonny and Jessica Williams took their 6 month old baby girl Emma into the hospital early Sunday for what looked like unusual bruising on her leg and abdomen. Upon taking Emma in, they discovered her white blood cell count was extremely high. The doctor immediately had Emma transported over to the Children's Hospital. After a long day of running tests, the doctors diagnosed Emma with Leukemia.

But God shows his faithfulness! Read this!!!!

Emma’s white blood cell count had to be taken twice today because the doctors thought there was no way the amazing new results could be right! Tuesday morning her white blood cell count was 420,000 (the normal is between 2,500-5,000) and this morning her cell count was 2,800! The doctor said this never happens but Mark (Jonny’s Dad) was quick to report “yes it does, with prayer.” There are still some cancerous cells in her body 2,800 but this is looking like little Emma won’t have to fight nearly the uphill battle we originally thought she would . She is responding extremely well to the chemo (she went through the first round of treatment Tuesday), and she still has to go through the whole process. Needless to say, this is a much brighter hospital room filled with much happier faces. Your prayers are working!

What a weekend

What a weekend. There was a high in the low 30's snow galore! On Sunday we had a high in the upper 60's! I love how God can keep me on my toes even when it comes to the weather. Jada went down for a nap on Saturday afternoon. I trudged out in the 'blizzard' and shot some pics. The first has to be my favorite! In case you were wondering, those are the actual birds!! I hope you enjoy them as much as i did taking them.

We've Moved!!

If you haven't heard, our offices have moved! We are currently in downtown Yukon off route 66. We are still in the process of moving in and getting settled into the new space. However, we wanted to let you know about a special that is running from now through the end of October.
